Overview

The Pizza Wagon is located off the side of the main road in Hurricane, 20 miles from St. George and 24 miles outside of Zion National Park. It’s run by a family and has been operating for 13 years! They whip out a variety of wood-fired oven pizzas with Neapolitan crust and American favorites right in front of you.

Value

This place has great value. We felt like we were stealing paying $8 for a pizza that fed two adults and a toddler.

3 most popular dishes

Margherita, Hawaiian Luau, and 3 cheese.

What I ordered

Half Hawaiian luau, half Sicilian.

Food quality

The crust is chewy, yet light, and cooked in an open wood-fired oven. They constantly rotate the pizza while cooking to prevent charring, which was a nice touch. The sauce was great, not too acidic or sweat. The toppings were of average quality, but plentiful (compared to other trendy Neapolitan pizza joints.) If the toppings were more gourmet and unique, Pizza Wagon has the potential to be a real contender with some of our favorites.

Ambiance

The owner and what appeared to be his kids were smiling and friendly. The space is outdoors, so prepare for the weather. There wasn’t someone dedicated to taking orders so it was confusing what to do.

What I liked most

The crust, the friendliness of the owner, the value.

What I disliked most

The lack of organization.

The verdict

The preparation area is unimpressive but the pizza oven makes up for it. The pizza, of course, is a great value and tasted great. Definitely give this place a try!
